Cultivating an Employee-First Work Culture

A strong focus on employee health and wellness is essential to developing a successful work culture. It is only when employees feel valued and are provided with avenues to avoid burn-out that an organisation thrives. Studies show that companies can increase productivity, lower absenteeism, and create a happier work environment by prioritising the physical, mental, and emotional health of their workforce.

Benefits of an employee-focused work culture

There are many benefits that a strong employee wellness culture can provide for both individuals and companies. On an individual level, it can make staff more content with their jobs and more productive overall. On an organisational level, a productive workforce is a ticket to greater sales, more efficient workflows, and a non-toxic work culture.

Physical benefits

Health is wealth when it comes to employee wellness in the workplace. Studies show that workplaces that prioritise the physical wellbeing of their employees see a decrease in employees taking sick days. Wellness activities such as stress management techniques, offsite days, and exercise activities can all contribute to a healthier workplace.

Mental and emotional benefits

Organisations can have a massive impact on employees’ mental and emotional health. Wellness activities and team days can create a sense of camaraderie and belonging. This is likely to reduce feelings of isolation and depression that could arise with hybrid/ remote work corporate jobs. These activities are also key to promoting a nurturing work culture overall, and is likely to drive the best talent to your organisation.

Organisational benefits

By addressing the underlying causes behind most health issues, organisations can drastically reduce the number of employees taking time off due to sickness. In this way, organisations become catalysts for employee welfare, rather than the opposite.

A positive work culture and an organisation that demonstrates clearly that it cares about its employees leads to high employee satisfaction and low turnover rates. The result is a loyal workforce that is dedicated to the company it works for. Not only does it retain talent, but it also shows stakeholders that the organisation is doing something right. This is a massive reputational win for a company and within the wider industry.

Fostering a positive and uplifting work culture at Company Watch

Employee well-being is essential for creating a thriving and positive work culture. That's why we adopt an employee-first approach in all our operations.

At Company Watch, we believe that happy employees are productive employees. By investing in employee well-being, we create a positive and supportive work environment where everyone feels valued and motivated.

We understand that work is more than just a paycheck; it's an opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute to something meaningful. That's why we're committed to providing our employees with the resources and support they need to thrive both personally and professionally.

One of our most popular events is the annual summer party. This year, the team swapped office spaces for sunny skies and enjoyed a delightful three-course meal and sunset drinks at a rooftop bar in Côte St. Katherine Docks. It was a chance to let loose, laugh, and connect with fellow colleagues outside the office.

We also understand the importance of work-life balance and encourage our employees to take regular breaks. Recently, the team enjoyed a well-deserved day off to recharge and refresh. Wellness Days, as they’re called here at Company Watch, were introduced this year by our CEO Craig Evans and have been a big hit. From running and playing golf to yoga and enjoying delicious meals, our employees spent these days off in various ways. These quarterly days off have proven to be highly beneficial, boosting productivity and creativity upon return.

We also ensure that we organise monthly team-building activities to strengthen bonds and foster a sense of camaraderie. After all, it’s nice to have a fun activity scheduled in the diary amidst all the booked meetings - something to look forward to. Our recent summer sports day in Regent's Park was a hilarious mix of friendly competition and embarrassing fails. The rounders match was a particular highlight - with everyone, even the not-so-sporty among us, joining in and putting up an impressive fight.

Looking ahead

At Company Watch, we are committed to uplifting our employees and providing healthy avenues for growth and relaxation outside of work. By investing in employee well-being, we’re not just improving the lives of our employees - we’re also strengthening our company’s future.
